Who We Are

Roving Art Foundation (RAF) is a new Nonprofit Organization dedicated to finding and supporting unhoused artists throughout Los Angeles County. Through the Department of Health Services’ COVID Response Team, artists Cyril Kuhn and Gunner Sixx organized art-making sessions at pop-up art tables in homeless encampments on Skid Row during mobile vaccine clinics. Following the success of those activities, RAF was created.

Coming together as artists and community members, our nonprofit organization’s goal is to provide resources, support, and time to unhoused artists in order to pursue their craft. Some of our work will function on an individual basis collaborating with artists to ensure they have the materials and storage space necessary for their work to thrive. Other portions of the work we do will be dedicated to organizing art events in group settings, family shelters, resource locations, and out on the street.

Meet the Team

  • Born in Zurich in 1970, Cyril Kuhn studied law, worked as a bouncer, roofer and servant. He received a MFA in Film and Video from CalArts in 2001. He settled in LA and turned to painting like his mother Rosina Kuhn and his grandfather Adolf Funk, and exhibited his paintings in Los Angeles and Europe.

In 2021, Cyril was a member of the LA County DHS COVID response team, helping to vaccinate homeless people in LA county. He subsequently founded RAF with Maya McKeevers, Gunner Sixx, and Aidan Nelson.

  • Gunner Sixx is an artist and advocate for homeless services in Los Angeles. Having felt first-hand the positive and life-changing benefits of having the opportunity to pursue creative endeavors, he has always felt passionate about encouraging and providing artistic resources to people experiencing homelessness.

Working with prominent organizations in the past such as the DHS Covid Response Team, LA LGBT Center & Covenant House, and currently Roving Art Foundation, he works to continue to bring opportunities to people in need.

  • Maya McKeever is a current graduate student from the San Fernando Valley. Artistically, she enjoys writing, painting, and digital art. Maya’s goal is to bridge her academic interest in racial capitalism and personal interest in art and community engagement to positively benefit the people around her. As a part of the Roving Art Foundation, her main tasks include co-organizing and executing art activities, grant writing, and maintaining records.

  • In 2018, Aidan co-founded Wonzimer Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles, and has since then been the director of the gallery. Originally from San Diego, California, Aidan attended the Art and Economic program through the University of Manchester's Sotheby Institute in London in 2021.

With his vast experience in the arts, business, and finance, he joined the Roving Art Foundation as the CFO. Aidan is committed to making a difference in the world by providing individuals experiencing homelessness with the opportunity to practice and produce art.
